[jobsthatareLEFT] National Organizer - Greenpeace, San Francisco, California, United States, 94103

Greenpeace was founded in 1971 by a small group of activists standing up to nuclear testing off the Alaskan coast. These daring few effectively won a total ban on nuclear testing and launched Greenpeace's legacy of "bearing witness" to environmental abuse. We continue to use non-violent direct action, creative confrontation, and grassroots organizing to build solutions to global warming, toxic pollution, the threat of nuclear energy expansion, and destruction of our ancient forests and oceans. Today, Greenpeace has 2.5 million members in 40 countries, and continues to lead the way to a clean and peaceful planet.

As a Greenpeace National Activist Network staff member, you will help develop and grow a national network of leaders who build power locally through running trainings, developing leaders, and campaigning for Greenpeace. Working remotely with volunteers, you will grow the movement to solve pressing environmental issues.  A National Organizer will support dozens of volunteer leaders and groups.

More specifically, you will:

  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of local volunteers around the country to run Greenpeace campaigns.
  • Through site visits, national gatherings, phone contact, and online organizing, build relationships with existing volunteer leaders, recruit new leadership, keep all volunteers engaged and coach them on organizing principles.
  • Design simple, effective campaign plans with motivating tactics for volunteers.
  • Master knowledge of Greenpeace campaigns.
  • Support the development of Greenpeace's remote volunteer program via our Greenpeace social network, Greenwire.
  • Other responsibilities required by your manager.

  • 2-3 years grassroots organizing experience.
