We are currently accepting applications for our 2016 Institute. The application deadline is November 1st.

New Leaders Council (NLC) is a 501(c)(3), founded in 2006, that works to recruit, train and promote the progressive political entrepreneurs of tomorrow — trendsetters, elected officials and civically-engaged leaders in business and industry who will shape the future landscape. NLC graduates are an ever-expanding corps of diverse, new progressive leaders who are rising to the top of their fields.
NLC is creating an exciting network of individuals, highly-skilled in working together across sectors to improve the progressive infrastructure and ensure strong democracy, social justice, and equal opportunity. Our 2015 class of about 700 Fellows recently joined our 3,000 NLC alumni, and our 2016 class will start in January 2016.
The New Leaders Council Institute is the premier leadership and professional development, training, mentoring, networking, and career and political advancement program for young professionals.
An intensive, five-month progressive entrepreneurship training program, each NLC Institute is highly-selective, admitting only 15 to 20 Fellows to each program. The typical NLC Fellow is a successful risk-taker and a progressive advocate.
Over 44 NLC chapters across the nation (and growing) hold an NLC Institute each year, engaging local experts to conduct sessions and create a uniquely tailored experience where Fellows learn from guest speakers at the top of their fields.
The progressive movement depends on the development of its future leaders. NLC works hard to ensure that development. Some of the topics covered in each of the chapters across the nation are:
