Office Manager, Center for Effective Government
The Center for Effective Government (CEG) seeks to connect national policy issues and debates in Washington, DC, with the lives and concerns of everyday people in communities across the country. We aim to help Americans understand why the public sector is important to their hopes and aspirations and to draw them in to learn more, demand more, and engage with our government to ensure it is responsive to their priorities. For more than three decades, CEG (formerly OMB Watch) has helped the American people understand how the federal government works and how public money is spent. Our mission is to build an open, accountable government that invests in the common good, protects people and the environment, and advances the national priorities defined by an active, informed citizenry. We work to improve the public's understanding of the essential role that government plays in our lives through our partnerships, policy analysis, commentary, new ideas, and new tools for civic engagement.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
As Office Manager, your work will fall into three main categories:
Financial Responsibilities
- Implement fiscal policies and procedures and oversee all accounting functions.
- Help to prepare and track the organization's budget; develop and maintain sound and current financial management systems and written procedures.
- Help prepare financial reports for the President and Board of Directors.
- Coordinate the year-end external audit.
- Manage cash flow, payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
- Other duties as requested.
Human Resources Work
- Manage staff and intern recruitment, hiring and termination procedures, outreach, and training.
- Negotiate and oversee benefits programs.
- Establish and enforce personnel policies and office procedures.
- Handle confidential financial and human resources information.
Office Management Duties
- Negotiate leasing/subleasing, purchase, and service contracts.
- Manage vendor relationships.
- Order supplies.
- Ensure compliance with recordkeeping policies and government regulations.
- Supervise CEG’s technology coordinator and oversee decisions on technology and communications equipment.
- Manage Salesforce and grants database data entry; prepare development correspondence.
- Assist program staff with administrative and data management tasks.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervision and Leadership
The Office Manager will report to the President and CEO.
Requirements
- 3-5 years' experience working in an office manager or project coordinator role.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles, basic office technology, Excel and Quickbooks. Familiarity with Salesforce a plus.
- Human resources management experience.
- A passion and drive for changing the world, preserving democracy, and having fun doing it.
Salary and Benefits
- This is a full-time position (negotiable to p/t depending upon experience). The salary range is $43,000-$50,000 based on experience.
