ORGANIZER, Nevadans for Background Checks
Nevadans for Background Checks will be hiring Field Organizers for the state of Nevada for the Reno and Las Vegas metro areas.
The Field Organizer is an essential member of the Nevadans for Background Checks field team in the State of Nevada. Each Field Organizer will oversee growth plans and grassroots organizing campaigns in their turf. Field Organizers train and develop volunteer leaders and form leadership teams and ensure that they reach the organization's growth and electoral goals, especially as they relate to the 2016 elections.
Field Organizers will be responsible for individual turf, managing several volunteer teams while being part of a greater field team. There will be opportunities for advancement for highly skilled and experienced staff.
This is a full-time position with competitive salary.
ABOUT Nevadans for Background Checks
Nevadans for Background Checks is a nonprofit organization leading the fight for the background checks ballot initiative in 2016. The background checks initiative will close a loophole in Nevada law by requiring criminal background checks for all gun sales, with reasonable exceptions for family, hunting, and self-defense. RESPONSIBILITIES
● Recruiting, training, and managing volunteers to participate in activities like door-to-door canvassing, phone banking, voter registration, and other efforts to persuade and turn out voters.
● Planning and executing regular voter contact and volunteer recruitment events.
● Cultivating volunteer leaders within communities and providing them with ongoing training.
● Developing relationships with political stakeholders and allied organizations.
● Assuming responsibility for meeting voter contact and volunteer recruitment goals within a turf.
QUALIFICATIONS
● Candidates must be self-motivated, goal-oriented, and have a strong commitment to accountability.
● Ability to juggle multiple priorities and projects and meet deadlines under pressure.
● Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
● Willingness to work long hours, including nights and weekends, in a fast-paced environment.
● Desire to learn on the job and meet any challenge with a positive attitude.
● The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of political campaigns and campaign technology such as NGP-VAN, Microsoft Excel, and Google Docs.
● Valid driver's license and reliable access to a vehicle.
● Passion for the organization's mission.
● One cycle of campaign experience preferred, but not required.
● Spanish language skills are a plus.
