Position: Staff Assistant

Position Summary
A new project of the New Venture Fund that aims to bring transparency to public policymaking seeks a Staff Assistant to support work on issues ranging from economic opportunity to voting rights.
The Staff Assistant will be an integral member of the project's core team and will provide administrative support to the project's management team and executive director. This position requires incredible attention to detail and superior organizational skills. A flexible personality, sense of humor, and positive attitude are also essential.
This position is based in Washington, DC. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
Essential Responsibilities and Tasks
- Providing support to management team on campaign initiatives;
- Tracking spending and managing budget;
- Serving as the lead interface between vendors and project for contracting purposes;
- Preparing and reconciling expenses for management team;
- Developing and managing filing system for project;
- Tracking and managing internal deadlines for project;
- Conducting research and presenting findings to the executive director on a variety of substantive issues; and
- Performing other administrative duties as assigned.
Required Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Ability
- Bachelor's degree required
- At least 1 year of experience as a staff or executive assistant
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and juggle competing priorities and strict deadlines
- Detail-oriented and superior organizational skills
- Proven track record for being a self-starter
