Title: Consultant or Senior Consultant
Reports to: Client Services Partners
Job Purpose: TBWB serves clients through the following processes. In general, projects are divided between Public Services and Campaign Services:
TBWB's Public Services:
- Identifying strategies and approaches for meeting the client's funding needs with a ballot measure
- Assessing the feasibility of a ballot measure
- Informing and engaging the public regarding a potential measure
- Identifying controversies or challenges and recommending solutions to overcome these hurdles
- Developing the key features of a measure and drafting appropriate measure language
- Qualifying a measure for the ballot at a strategically targeted election date
TBWB's Campaign Services:
- Developing all campaign strategy and messaging, and guiding client in the implementation of campaign plans
- Producing all campaign direct mail, and other communication materials as appropriate
- Advising on the appropriate and most effective use of all media, including mail, electronic, social, free and earned; and creating message-based materials as-needed to support campaign media
- Advising Campaign on the recruitment and use of volunteers, including periodic (not daily) training and the creation of supportive materials, including scripts, lists, maps and field plans
- Identifying controversies or challenges and recommending solutions to overcome these hurdles
- Providing general support and guidance characteristic of a Campaign's General Consultant
Necessary Qualifications: A minimum of one year of experience working as a TBWB Associate or in a similar role in another agency. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to multi-task, professional client service experience, persuasive and accurate strategic writing capabilities, experience collaborating with colleagues and the ability to work under pressure to meet firm deadlines.
A Consultant or Senior Consultant serves in a project management role on multiple projects simultaneously, interacting regularly with the client, generally with an Associate assigned in support of each project. The Consultant collaborates with the project's Managing Consultant or Partner and supervises the work of the Associate.
A Consultant should possess the skills and qualifications to accomplish the following tasks. A Senior Consultant will have the experience and skills to accomplish the following with a very high degree of independence and self-direction. The Senior Consultant will have demonstrated ability to independently trouble-shoot and provide strategic direction to clients.
Strategic Direction
- Collaborate with the Managing Consultant or Partner to develop, present, refine and implement the overall strategic approach and plan for the project, including written plans for public outreach and communications
- Collaborate with Managing Consultant or Partner to ensure client adherence to the strategic plan
- Be available for daily client contact related to project logistics and implementation (Senior Consultant will be the primary day-to-day contact)
- Attend Board or Council meetings as needed
- Attend meetings or conference calls with client, client's designated staff and community stakeholders as needed
- Collaborate with Managing Consultant or Partner to trouble-shoot client issues as they arise
- Other ongoing client, Managing Consultant and Partner support related to the project to ensure the client's success
Project Management
- Develop and maintain timelines or project plans to ensure that the client is on track and deadlines are met
- Ensure all materials, brochures, etc. are created, reviewed, presented, approved and archived according to company procedures
- Ensure all client interaction meets appropriately professional standards and that all internal corporate processes are followed for each element of the project
- Manage and direct any Associates assigned to the project to accomplish assigned tasks
Messaging
- Work with the Managing Consultant or Partner to develop key messages based on poll results, client input and other research
- Ensure that all messaging and materials related to the project are "on message" and consistent
Materials Production
- Write copy (or supervise Associates in the writing of copy) for all client collateral, including brochures, handouts, presentations, emails, websites or other public communication materials
- Work with the TBWB Art Production Coordinator and/or Associates to ensure the look and feel of the piece fits messaging, client expectations and corporate design standards
- Work with the TBWB Production Department to ensure that all details are attended and deadlines are met for the production of all materials
- Serve as the lead client contact for editing, design changes and final approval of all materials
