RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Deputy Communications Director will manage, in collaboration with Communications Director and senior staff, all Nevada press activities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  •     Assist Communications Director with the development, direction, and implementation of the NV press program
  •     Manage relationships with and requests from local press outlets
  •     Communicate and work closely with digital team
  •     Write talking points, op-eds, statements, letters to the editor, and other copy as needed
  •     Connect on-­the-­ground organizing efforts with the larger media narrative and implement pro­active earned media outreach
  •     Monitor media coverage in­-state
  •     Provide background briefings for senior staff 
  •     Train and guide other staff in communications best­ practices
  •       Create and conduct media training for staff, surrogates and volunteers

QUALIFICATIONS

  •     At least one cycles of campaign communications experience
  •     Impeccable written and verbal skills
  •     Strong time management and multitasking skills
  •     Thorough knowledge of electronic and print media systems (ethnic media a plus)
  •     Proven track record of pro­-active earned media outreach, maintaining good working relationships with reporters and securing positive media coverage
  •     Willingness to work long hours, including nights and weekends
  •     Ability to act and organize independently
  •     Strong sense of discretion and personal accountability
