Summary:
One of America's foremost political organizations is looking for a motivated, energetic, organized person to join our team in Boston as a progressive outreach director for the New England region. The right candidate will have a proven track record in electoral politics, fundraising, grassroots organizing, or another related field. You should be adept at building strong relationships, community organizing, and ready to cultivate progressive political activists who are committed to keeping America strong and our ally, Israel, secure.
The progressive outreach director promotes pro-Israel activism and an understanding of the importance of a strong U.S.-Israel relationship among progressive leaders in New England. You will also be tasked with recruiting progressive leaders for educational seminars in Israel and will serve as AIPAC's public liaison to the progressive community in New England. The progressive outreach director – a member of AIPAC's political team – reports to the regional political director in Boston and works closely with AIPAC's national outreach team in Washington, DC.
Responsibilities:
· Build relationships with key progressive political and community leaders in New England, educating them about the U.S.-Israel relationship and encouraging involvement in pro-Israel activism and politics.
· Plan and execute a strategy to educate and recruit progressive leaders for educational seminars in Israel.
· Maintain and expand relationships with Israel seminar alumni and their networks, keeping them involved in AIPAC and pro-Israel politics upon completion of the educational seminar.
· Research and analyze local political trends and races, prepare background and briefing materials.
· Solicit participation in AIPAC's annual campaign through face-to-face solicitations of major donors, phone solicitations, donor cultivation, and donor stewardship.
Qualifications/Skills:
- A commitment to an effective American foreign policy in the Middle East and a passion for Israel.
- A minimum three to five years' experience in politics, community organizing, fundraising or a related field.
- A thorough understanding of, and experience working with, progressive organizations and constituencies such as organized labor, the LGBT community, women's advocacy groups and environmentalists.
- Ability to collaborate with a diverse group of colleagues. Flexibility and sense of humor are a must.
- Outstanding organizational skills with an attention to detail and an ability to multitask.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills including public speaking and the ability to write clearly and persuasively.
- Ability to work occasional nights and weekends, to travel throughout New England regularly and occasionally to Washington, DC and Israel for seminars, conferences and training.
- Bachelor's degree strongly preferred, or commensurate experience.
