Position Summary

 

SEIU is on the cutting edge of progressive activism, building power for low wage workers and engaging in the important social and economic issues facing working families.  SEIU staff are committed to the 2.1 million members and the issues that affect their lives. 

 

The Recruiter Brand Strategist is integral to the recruiting and staffing for SEIU international and local unions.  The focus is on creating and maintaining an employer brand that leverages SEIU as the employer of choice for social justice advocates and efficiently attracts the best people. This person utilizes traditional recruitment practices, social media and sourcing tools to effectively find new staff.   As part of the Human Resources Department, this position is responsible for effectively  coordinating and liaising  with all departments to meet their recruiting needs.

Improve the SEIU employer brand to attract quality and diverse hires.  Through the use of marketing and branding principles educate, inform and appeal to candidates that are committed to our mission and posses the essential skills and experience to do the work. Ensure that the employer brand aligns with the organization's mission, vision and core values.
 
Broaden advertising reach by utilizing social media and networking to communicate job vacancies and campaign developments to niche audiences.  Construct and maintain a comprehensive social media strategy that includes facebook, twitter and Linkedin. Continuously measure the impact of this strategy with tracking metrics to make updates that improve outcomes.  Attend events that attract potential applicants to network and educate about job vacancies.
 
Review, interview and assess candidates to provide Hiring Managers with access to the best applicants. Discuss recruitment needs with Hiring Managers and determine applicant fit by studying job profiles and making recommendations. Interview applicants, analyze responses and compile data to assist Hiring Managers with making a decision.  
 
 Advance the recruiting process and the quality of candidates hired. During the first year, work with the Recruitment Director to enhance existing hiring processes.  Improve hiring practices by boosting sourcing, implementing better assessment tools and formalizing interview protocols that include Recruitment staff.
 
Train staff on recruitment tools and processes to increase the number of compliant Hiring Managers. Improve relationships with Hiring Managers and meet with staff to assess training needs. Implement necessary trainings both on site and using webinars for field staff. Develop and leverage partnerships with stakeholders that improve collaboration and compliancy.

Direction and Decision Making:

 

This positions reports to the Director of Recruiting. Work is performed with latitude for professional judgment in consultation with the director.

 

Physical Requirements

 

This position is based in Washington, D.C.  It is generally performed in an office setting at SEIU HQ. It may also involve remote working.  Irregular hours will be necessary in order to perform the tasks required to complete assignments

 

Education, Experience & Skills:

 

Graduation with a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited 4-year college or university and a minimum of two to five (2-5) years of experience in some combination of  either diversity recruitment, social media recruitment, non-profit recruitment, labor organizing, social justice issue organizing, political campaigning  or mobilizing for progressive causes using social media.

?     Proficiency in organizing, constructing and facilitating presentations and trainings

?     Experience in organizing and conducting interviews

?     Ability to recruit or mobilize with social media (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google, etc.) on national and multistate levels with bilingual, diverse and multicultural communities

?     Experience successfully screening seasoned senior staff, verifying skills and accomplishments

?     Experience using web-based recruitment technology, a plus.
