Are you super-savvy about all things digital? The Hatcher Group, a full-service communications firm located in Bethesda, Maryland, is looking for a digital media strategist to provide communications support to a variety of progressive nonprofits and foundations. You'll lead client teams in building advocacy campaigns, combining traditional media outreach with digital engagement tactics. You'll create social media plans and provide tactical support to clients, along with advising clients on website design and SEO. The right person has the expertise and breadth of knowledge in the digital space to provide social media training to clients and present on social media advocacy at conferences and other speaking opportunities.
Other tasks may include: crafting effective e-mail campaigns, writing website and other online copy, managing and interpreting online metrics, managing online advertising campaigns, running webinars, creating and editing video and audio, pitching bloggers and online media, and staying on top of new media tools and trends. Position reports to Vice President of Digital Strategies.
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in communications or related field
- 2-5 years experience in digital strategy and social media strategy development
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of how to strategically use social media platforms, (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, Vine, etc.) to achieve communications goals and objectives.
- Working knowledge of social media management tools (i.e., Tweetdeck, Hootsuite, etc.) and monitoring and reporting tools (i.e., TweetReach, Sprout Social, Followerwonk, etc.)
- Experience in critical data analysis and metrics reporting, including setting up and monitoring Google Analytics, creating key analytics dashboards for clients and interpreting findings
- Experience with online grassroots tactics (i.e., Twitter chats and Twitterbombs), as well as digital advocacy tools (i.e., Thunderclap, Twibbon, online petitions, etc.)
- Experience with email marketing best practices, strategies and software (i.e., Constant Contact, MailChimp, etc.)
- Experience with WordPress, including setting up simple websites and updating content
- Proficiency in media monitoring software including Cision and Vocus
- Excellent writing and language skills
- Excellent technical understanding and ability to pick up new tools quickly
- Experience in public speaking and teaching clients
- Knowledge of webinar hosting platforms a plus
- Experience developing WordPress or other simple websites
- Experience in proposal writing and business development
