Staff who have worked with the firm's Principal in the past have experienced fast-tracked career success, and have gone on to serve as the Finance Director for the PA Democratic Party, the Finance Director for the Governor of PA, as well as the Finance Director for the PA HDCC.


JOB DESCRIPTION: DEPUTY FINANCE DIRECTOR


The position of Deputy Finance Director is designed as an entry-level position, and is a great way to learn a skill set in Campaign Finance and Fundraising. Responsibilities will grow with this position, and opportunities for advancement and promotion are plentiful. Starting Salary Range is $26k - $28k, with an aggressive bonus structure for positive performance. Most team members who have started in this position saw bonuses in the $3k - $6k range during their first year. This position is located in Philadelphia, PA and some travel may be required.


RESPONSIBILITIES


Fundraising Support:

·        Database Management: Maintains high quality records to facilitate compliance reporting, increase donor contact quality, and to support all fundraising activities. This includes database management, tracking of solicitations, contributions and related information, and the use of campaign finance software such as NGP.

·        Compliance Support: Maintains meticulous compliance records including records of all contributions and expenditures to facilitate efficient reporting. Assists in filing PAC and campaign finance reports by deadline.

·        Donor Outreach: Provides information to donors about Citizens for Hughes, Senate candidates and issues by phone, mail and email. Writes quarterly newsletters and various solicitation materials to assist in implementation of fundraising plans.

·        Research: Provides research support for all fundraising efforts, including individual donor history research, and research on potential donors and prospects.

·        Event Planning: Develops schedules and plans for executing outstanding fundraising events, including mail solicitation, event logistics, vendors and additional event planning details as they arise. Implements plans with the Intern Team.

·        Scheduling and Misc. Support: Manages scheduling and preparation of materials for Leadership and Finance Team meetings, and for call-time sessions, and provides other administrative support for fundraising as needed.


Additional Responsibilities include:

-        Managing Part Time Staff, Interns & Co-Op Students

-        Executing Event Plan & Logistics for fundraising events

-        Organizing and Raising $ from the lower-half of targets on the Campaign Finance Plan ($1,000 and below)

-         Facilitating some currently booked events

-        Managing Call-Time for Candidate

-        Some light Volunteer Organizing as needed


Office Management:

·        Website Management: Works with the web provider and developer to consistently update DSSCC website content.

·        Office Management: Ensures that the offices run smoothly. Manages office supply budget, office meetings and schedules, as well as office logistics such as space, furniture, utilities and phones. Coordinates the bulk mail permit usage and logistics.


Project Management:

·        External Communication: In collaboration with the Executive Director, produces written material for all aspects of the organization, including press releases, newsletters and solicitations for mail, email and other media. Manages email blasts to volunteers, donors and the public, and coordinates responses to press inquiries.

·        Intern Program: Collaborates with the Executive Director to recruit, hire and supervise the Intern Team. This includes managing intern schedules, providing training, and coordinating the intern team to provide support for all fundraising activities and additional projects as they arise.

·        Field & Opposition Research: Assists in scouting territory and conducting local research as needed in targeted Senate districts, under the direction of the Executive Director.

·        College and Volunteer Outreach: Develops and implements plans throughout the campaign cycle to support targeted campaigns by recruiting volunteers and organizing with community and student organizations. Coordinates campus invasion weekends to support targeted campaigns with additional volunteer resources from outside their region.


SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

·        4-year College Degree or 1 – 2 years experience in an Administrative Support capacity required. Political fluency and campaign experience is preferred.

·        Superb working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Vista, blast email software and graphic design software. Experience with political field software and database management is preferred.

·        Exceptional written and oral communications skills, organizational skills and interpersonal skills required. Flexibility and attention to detail are also essential.

·        Ability to prioritize assignments and work on both team and individual projects. Proven record of working independently is a plus.

·        Self-starter, highly-motivated, willingness and ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow-through.

·        Ability to demonstrate professionalism and patience in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.

·        Valid Drivers' License and Vehicle required.


Education: Bachelor's degree required; preferably in a Social Science concentration such as Political Science, or a business /finance field.


Location: This position is based in Philadelphia, PA, but occasional travel to different areas of Pennsylvania and/or Washington, DC may be required.
