Paid Communications Internship
April – June 2016
The Communications Department at the Association of Flight Attendants – CWA (AFA), is seeking an intern to start in April and work through June.
About us: The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA-CWA) is the world's largest labor union organized by flight attendants for flight attendants. AFA represents nearly 50,000 flight attendants at 18 airlines, serving as a voice for flight attendants at their workplace, in the industry, in the media and on Capitol Hill. Simply put, the goal of flight attendants who become part of AFA is to negotiate better pay, benefits, working conditions and work rules at their airline, and to improve their safety on the job.
About the job: You will learn about the day-to-day communications process that takes place inside of an international union.
Responsibilities include:
Researching topics for communications publications
Composing newsletter content and preparing it for distribution
Requirements:
Familiar with HTML
Experience with an email management system (ex. Salsa, ActionNetwork)
Demonstrated interest in progressive or social justice issues
Stipend: $15 per hour with a maximum of 35 hours per week
Commute: Our headquarters is conveniently located just off the Red Line Judiciary Square metro stop at 501 3rd Street NW, Washington, D.C.
