THE ROLE


As Social Media Manager of Community Engagement, you're responsible for multi-platform social community growth and activation state-level campaigns and our national brand.  The objective of this candidate is to engage new and existing community members to strengthen the voice of the campaign. This role reports to the Digital Director, and requires a sociable and socially passionate candidate who works well from a blank slate, keeping their finger on the pulse of social media and staying ahead of emerging trends. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and manages social community programs, providing a common voice and vision for teams. (40%)
  • Coaches staff on responsible and effective social media strategies (20%)
  • Collaborates to come up with new methods, stories and ideas for campaigns, including development of owned content blogosphere. (20%)
  • Oversees and approves social media content. (5%)
  • Measures analytics and modifies planning of social media efforts. (5%)
  • Builds campaign visibility and credibility by attending Twitter chats, blogging on external sites etc. (5%)
  • Engages communities and partners in conversation in search of new opportunities to grow our campaigns (5%)

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum of two years working in social media, non-profit or politics;
  • Social Media Savvy.  You're well versed in major social media platforms, associated content marketing strategies, and then some. You're confident working with Facebook Insights, Google Analytics, etc. and know how to leverage data to improve engagement;
  • Superlative Storytelling Skills.  You can tell a riveting story in 140 or 1,400 characters;
  • Sociability.  You love education, or politics, or social media, (ideally you love them all!) and can't wait to share your love with all.
  • Current Event Chutzpah. You have a plugged-in awareness of current events and trending topics, and an ability to quickly incorporate trends into social media strategy;
  • An Eye for Detail.  You have the ability to flawlessly manage multiple projects at once in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.  You commit to quality, accuracy and consistency;
  • Moxie. You have opinions on social media, and you're excited to help us break down barriers;
  • Flexibility: In keeping with the workflow, candidates must be able to travel and work on site frequently, and work moderately irregular hours when needed;
  • Multiple HatsYou know how to get stuff done, and you're willing to help out as needed, regardless of role or title.
