The Campaign
From Hurricane Sandy to the worst drought since the Dust Bowl, extreme weather is becoming more frequent and severe. If we don't act now to cut global warming pollution, the consequences for future generations will be devastating.
And we know what we need to do: dramatically reduce the carbon emissions created when we burn fossil fuels, become a lot more efficient – so that we use less energy, and ensure that all of the energy we do use comes from clean renewable sources like the sun and the wind.
We're faced with the best chance we've had in years to cut global warming pollution. The Environmental Protection Agency has proposed standards that would cut carbon pollution from power plants – the single largest source of global warming pollution in the country. This is an unprecedented step forward, but it's facing enormous opposition from the fossil fuel industry and their allies in Congress.
Pennsylvania is at the center of this fight. We're the third largest emitter of carbon pollution in the nation and Senator Bob Casey will likely provide a deciding vote on whether these new standards move forward. With the coal lobby fighting back, PennEnvironment is expanding our efforts to mobilize and engage tens of thousands of Pennsylvanians for climate action and build a stronger movement to tackle climate change over the next few years. If we succeed, this will be a historic step in the fight against global warming.
The Job Description

Working with volunteers you will organize rallies with hundreds of citizens, coordinate rapid response media, run phonebanks to generate thousands of calls, collect thousands of personal letters on climate change, attend lobby meetings with volunteers, run skills trainings for citizens and more. Along the way, you will help collect thousands of petitions, talk to hundreds of volunteers, organize town halls and educational forums, present to dozens of community groups and build political power to ensure Senator Casey stands strong on climate change.
By the end of the campaign, organizers will have built a volunteer team that can continue the fight for Pennsylvania's environment for years to come.
