[jobsthatareLEFT] DC: Digital Communications Manager, Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism

The Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism (or "the RAC") is poised to play a pivotal role in the fight for justice by leveraging the full strength of the Reform Jewish Movement – the largest Jewish denomination in North America – in the most pressing issue campaigns of our time. For more than 50 years, the RAC has been the hub of Jewish social justice and legislative activity in Washington, D.C. The American Jewish community of the 21st century seeks new ways to fulfill its holy mandate to pursue social justice and create a better world.

The RAC seeks a Digital Communications Manager, to manage the digital marketing asset infrastructure needs of the communications department. This position will require both digital and print graphic design work. The incumbent will be largely responsible for leading our email marketing products and creative asset creation and management, while also participating in other communications efforts. This is a terrific position for someone who wishes to grow in a creative and aggressive communications and marketing operation that is part of a fast-paced public policy advocacy office. The RAC's Communications Department works in press relations, new media, IT, development and marketing.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and creatively manage the RAC's weekly direct marketing e-blasts (we have a robust email marketing strategy, involving multiple mailings each week to targeted and broad audiences) from design to content curation.
  • Lead analytics reporting on key platforms to support integrated strategic decision making
  • Update and troubleshoot web properties, including innovative solutions to unique technical challenges
  • Manage digital and print design projects, working with designers, printers, and vendors as appropriate
  • Exercise judgment and triage incoming communications projects for departmental planning
  • Set up data reporting mechanisms for review by Senior Staff and other key stakeholders
  • Collaborate in creative asset management, both digital and traditional
  • Contribute to the RAC's social media channels by creating content and helping to develop the strategy
  • Build solid relationships, liaise and participate in regular meetings with leadership and in targeted communities and groups
  • Draft other correspondence as assigned, including, but not limited to internal and external memos, letters, brochures, etc
  • Conduct research using the internet, journals and other publications

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of experience in the field. This is not an entry-level position.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign); video editing and other digital skills are desirable
  • A keen understanding of media, marketing, and online strategies
  • Experience or desire to learn about using graphic design and digital platforms to both communicate with the media and organize activists
  • Comfort with PCs and Macs; Microsoft Office, iCloud, other web tools
  • Understanding of web architecture and relational databases
  • The ability to work well under pressure on time-sensitive issues, shift priorities and meet deadlines
  • Understanding of the legislative process
  • A commitment to tikkun olam and Jewish advocacy & activism as a means for change
  • Familiarity with the Reform Jewish Movement
