[jobsthatareLEFT] JOB: Director of Analytics, Farmigo (Brooklyn, NY)

Director of Analytics

Brooklyn, New York, United States · Data & Analytics

DESCRIPTION

Farmigo is looking to hire a Director of Analytics to help our team of designers, engineers, movement builders, and logistics gurus learn faster, go deeper, and think smarter.

We're a fast-growing, mission-driven startup with an ambitious goal: to make local, sustainably produced food more accessible and affordable in every community. Farmigo is an online farmers market that gives consumers an easy, convenient way to buy all of their groceries directly from the best local farmers and foodmakers.

As Director of Analytics at Farmigo, you will take us to the next level of reporting and analytics, including implementing predictive modeling and data mining into our processes to improve our decision-making. This position reports directly to the CTO, and will work closely with our growth, marketing, sales, operations, and product teams to lead the vision, strategy, tools, and processes to expand our analytical capabilities.

We currently analyze data from a slew of data sources including Google Analytics and Salesforce, and we've made recent strides in our reporting with the implementation of Tableau. Now, we need your help to better synthesize and aggregate these disparate data sources to uncover hidden patterns and improve our predictive capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Data Team in all aspects of data and analytics, from planning and strategy to data acquisition and analysis

  • Create and execute a comprehensive organizational data strategy and roadmap with a focus on data integration and process management. Consolidate data sources, improve data transparency, work with VPs and managers to define KPIs, and get us all talking the same language around data and metrics

  • Manage the development and execution of predictive analytics and machine learning models for a variety of applications, from predicting customer behavior to creating recommendation engines for our marketplace

  • Provide thought leadership and direction for data management and analysis tools, constantly assessing and evaluating new solutions to improve efficiency and analytical capabilities

  • Develop tools, metrics, and systems to analyze large-scale marketplace data (from Google Analytics), identifying opportunities to improve our product, merchandising, and marketing

  • Develop a deep understanding of the drivers of lifetime value and retention of our members and communities, and work closely with the CFO to create financial models and forecast performance

REQUIREMENTS

  • A BA/BS degree in a technical field and 6-8 years of experience in Analytics

  • Experience building out and managing an organization's data capabilities, including staff, tools, and processes

  • Fluency in tools/languages for:

    • Data Analysis & Visualization (SQL, R, Python, Tableau, etc.)

    • ETL/Data Warehousing

    • Web Analytics (Google Analytics, MixPanel)

  • Working knowledge of data mining, statistical analysis and machine learning concepts (clustering, linear/logistic regression, decision trees, random forest), with the ability to apply them to commercial applications to make better decisions, find hidden patterns, and predict outcomes

  • Proven track record of successfully researching, scoping, and operationalizing new data tools and systems for increased efficiency and effectiveness

  • Experience creating and managing data warehousing and ETL processes to combine disparate data sources

  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to distill complex topics and ambiguous information into thoughtful analyses and actionable recommendations

  • Experience leading a data team in an E-Commerce environment is a very strong plus

BENEFITS

We love our staff, and show it with full benefits (medical, dental, vision and life), stock options in a fast-growing start up, an unlimited vacation policy, and the ability to work alongside co-workers who are passionate about changing the food system. Plus you'll get a steep discount on the best food you've ever tasted!
