Job Description

Program Assistant

The Voter Participation Center is one of America's leading voter turnout organizations.  VPC will mail, in 2016, more than 20 million pieces of voter registration mail and register more than a million Americans.  This fall VPC will conduct mail and text GOTV programs in a number of states across America.  The Women's Voices Women Vote Action Fund conduct persuasion and GOTV projects, generally on behalf or for the benefit of specific candidates.

Voter Registration and GOTV mail is coordinated inside the VPC Program department which includes a Program Director and a Deputy Program Director.  The Program Assistant will work with these two individuals to assist in the production, tracking and reporting on VPC mailings and other projects. The Program Assistant provides administrative support services for the VPC/WVWVAF program team.  The position requires the ability to answer phone calls, input data quickly and accurately and generally to assist the program director in the execution of VPC registration and GOTV programs.

We are looking to hire someone as soon as possible.  The position lasts through the election cycle and concludes at the end of November

Supervisor:  Program Director. 

Skills:

  • An ability to track and manage details

  • Perform tasks in a highly organized way

  • An ability to work independently with minimal management supervision

  • Be comfortable working in a highly dynamic and frequently changing work environment

  • Ability to input information quickly and accurately from a variety of sources

  • Having a customer service attitude

  • Bring creativity and enthusiasm to their work

Duties

  • Performing administrative support duties such as answering telephone and email

  • Managing program office documentation

  • Handling questions and concerns from mail recipients 

  • Proofing mail creatives

  • Preparing reports on VPC program

  • Processing returned mail

  • Participating in meetings to discuss the strategy and design of VPC programs and mail

  • Review data and in some case assist in writing reports.

The ideal candidate must have a broad base of administrative skills.  He/she has interest in politics.  Having experience in political campaigns is a plus.  The ability to work with others both within our team and with partner organizations is important.

Compensation:  $30,000 to $40,000 per year plus health insurance benefits.
