Do you love working with people? Do you want to make a difference in western Colorado? Western Colorado Congress seeks to hire a Field Canvass Director through the 2016 election cycle. This person will be responsible for managing a team of paid and volunteer canvassers to be deployed to contact, persuade, and turn out voters to support Colorado's ballot initiative to raise Colorado's minimum wage.

About the organization:

Western Colorado Congress (WCC) is a grassroots, democratic organization dedicated to challenging injustice by organizing people to increase their power over decisions that affect their lives. WCC's community groups and members work together to create healthy, sustainable communities, social and economic justice, environmental stewardship and a truly democratic society.

WCC is a nonpartisan 501 c 3 organization and does not endorse any political candidate and has no political affiliation.

Our canvass goals include expanding the profile and broadening the base of WCC, building our power to win on progressive issues across the Western Slope, and winning key precincts for the minimum wage ballot initiative.

We have drafted a robust field program that is central to reaching our goals. As the lead of a canvass team, you won't be tied to a desk. You will be making change happen at the local level by fine tuning and executing a winning field operation in several Western Slope counties.

  • Coordinating phone banks to supplement the door canvass, when strategic.

  • Providing weekly data analytics for the operation.

  • Coordinating with the statewide field director for CFFW.

  • Coordinating travel schedules and logistics for the canvass team, as needed.

Mandatory qualifications:

  • Previous campaign and canvass experience

  • Attention to detail

  • Ability to work long and irregular hours, including evenings and weekends

  • Flexibility in traveling for the canvass program, including holding a valid driver's license

  • Self-motivated and a team player

  • Commitment to the mission and values of Western Colorado Congress

Desired qualifications:

  • Experience with voter file databases (the VAN)

  • Experience working in rural communities

  • Experience supervising staff
