SUMMARY:

NextGen California is seeking a senior digital strategist to lead the organization's aggressive digital program. The Digital Director will be an important part of the organization's senior leadership, working not only to deliver best-in-class digital strategy and manage the overall digital program, but also to shape the organization's aggressive political strategy. This role will focus on digital engagement, email marketing, and advocacy-based list building in addition to overseeing general digital work (media buying, content creation, etc.).


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Define and lead implementation of digital strategy for the entire NextGen California organization across statewide, regional, and local campaigns for a variety of candidates and issues, as well as helping to manage NextGen California online brands
  • Build digital campaigns for NextGen California that drive political, marketing, and policy objectives – online and offline
  • Recruit, manage and lead a team of digital and creative specialists who will execute campaigns
  • Oversee email marketing, creative development, marketing, and measurement for dozens of unique programs and campaigns per year
  • Coordinate digital efforts with internal and external NextGen California stakeholders including political, research, communications, and policy staff; pollsters; paid media consultants; and political and non-profit partners
  • Work with NextGen California's communications, research, and policy teams to execute an engaging social media presence – including effective rapid response
  • Manage digital consultants including ad vendors, digital marketing firms, and design/development shops
  • Be responsible for creative and brand standards across all NextGen California digital channels, including legal compliance across national state and local election requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Digital marketing and CRM experience including hands-on experience with SEO, SEM, social, mobile, display, web, email and database marketing efforts as well as technology platforms for content distribution, email marketing & deliverability, and social media management
  • 10+ years digital and/or campaign experience, including digital work for political campaigns, non-profit advocacy groups or in a relevant marketing role
  • Expert level experience in digital engagement and advocacy-based list-building
  • 3-5 years of experience managing large teams.
  • Superior communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, and an ability to adapt rapidly to evolving priorities and deadlines
  • Strong campaign and technical acumen, with the ability to quickly understand and communicate technical concepts and challenges across wide-ranging audiences
