Brass Tactics is seeking experienced campaign staff with at least four full cycles of issue or electoral campaign organizing experience for an earned media advocacy campaign to protect our progress on climate change and environmental protections. The National Partnership Manager for Rapid Response Actions will work with national and local organizations to plan and execute earned media actions focused on the activities of public officials in states.

 

The mission is to convince public officials to resist any effort to diminish our progress on environmental regulations, fighting climate change and promoting clean energy. The National Partnership Manager for Rapid Response Actions is an important part of a team working to pursue this mission.

 

The National Partnership Manager for Rapid Response Actions will be responsible for representing and executing the nationwide effort in targeted states. This position requires the candidate be able to develop political partnerships with in-state groups along with planning and executing on-the-ground actions on short notice.  Responsibilities include monitoring relevant public events; identifying, contacting and building partnerships and relationships with state-based member organizations; planning and implementing rapid response actions with participation from member organizations and/or local partners; tracking key metrics; capturing events on video; and providing accurate reports. The National Partnership Manager for Rapid Response Actions will also provide additional capacity for other events that are part of the overall program.

 

The National Partnership Manager for Rapid Response Actions will be based in DC, but the position requires 50-60% travel. Candidates must be able to work as part of a team but also work remotely and independently on short notice when actions are needed.

 

This is a full-time salaried position from late February, 2017 through December 2017. The position requires the National Partnership Manager for Rapid Response Actions to work long hours on an irregular schedule that includes evening hours and weekend. The Deputy must possess a valid driver's license and have daily access to their own car for the duration of the program.

 

Salary is $6000/month and includes health insurance benefits.  All project related travel costs are paid for.

 

Job Responsibilities

·         Identify, contact and effectively build relationships with national and state-based member organizations that will participate in rapid response actions;

·         Effectively plan, manage and execute rapid response actions with participation from member organizations and/or local partners;

·         Provide in-person leadership and staff support at events;

·         Conduct follow-up communication with event partners;

·         Track key event metrics and complete daily reports on progress to goal for all metrics;

·         Assist in researching, monitoring and tracking public events;

·         Use social and digital media tools to contact potential local partners and build a response network;

·         Bring a positive, solutions-oriented approach to all facets of the work program;

·         Troubleshoot daily challenges with managing volunteers, partner relationships and event planning;

·         Represent the campaign with professionalism and ethical conduct; and

·         Work with Events Director and Campaign Manager to develop and implement best practices.

 

Reporting

Deputy Manager of Rapid Events will report directly to the Campaign Director.

Qualifications

        At least 4 years or 4 full cycles of experience working on political or issue-based campaigns that involved political partnership development and executing advocacy events;

        Community, electoral or issue organizing background;

        Prior experience working on climate change or environmental related issues is preferred;

        Experience managing grassroots advocacy actions is required;

        Skilled with partner relationship building;

        Experience working in a diverse, inclusive, team-oriented workplace, but also disciplined to work on their own;

        Comfort with more aggressive messaging and actions;

        Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;

        Positive attitude and personality;

        Creative approach to planning and problem solving;

        An ability to respond, plan and act quickly on short notice in less than ideal circumstances;

        Perseverance in the face of difficult challenges;

        Demonstrated success in metrics driven jobs;

        Disciplined in meeting deadlines even on tight timelines;

        Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills;

        Experience working in diverse communities;

        Strong commitment to promoting action to combat climate change;

        Ability to work in and adapt to a fast-moving environment;

        Ability to work on-the-move and without a physical office occasionally;

        Must have valid driver's license;

        Must have access to their own working lap top computer that has WiFi compatibility; and

        Willingness and availability to work long hours with irregular weekday and weekend hours as well work on short notice.
