Position Summary:

The Manager, Organizing Programming & Coaching  will be responsible for the development and execution of the overarching programmatic strategies for inspiring, developing and supporting members to pursue and sustain careers in community organizing.  


Through deep understanding of the knowledge, skills and mindsets necessary for success as a community organizer - both in broad-based as well as issue-specific organizing roles - the Manager, Organizing Programming & Coaching will execute fellowships, trainings and other programming intended to increase the number of LEE members in organizing careers.

The Manager, Organizing Programming & Coaching will lead and manage LEE's Community Organizing Fellowship (COF).   He/she/they will be responsible for the recruitment and selections of all fellows and hosts, designing an arc of programmatic supports to ensure fellows grow their leadership, organizing skills, and leave the fellowship with the experience necessary to have impact as a community organizer.  


The Manager, Organizing Programming & Coaching will also be a key member of LEE's organizing career coaching team.  He/she/they will support LEE members to explore their interest in community organizing jobs, including career exploration coaching, job application, resume, cover letter and interview support.

In all his/her/their work, the Manager, Organizing Programming & Coaching will effectively track, manage and improve programmatic impact of Organizing Career Leadership through data management, member surveys and other resources.


Finally, the Manager, Organizing Programming & Coaching will support the Organizing Leadership team's work to effectively track open organizing roles across the country, market the most impactful of those roles to members, and identify strong member candidates for open organizing roles.


Position location:  Flexible


Travel Requirements: 20% (Seasonal)


Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Community Organizing Fellowship to recruit and place members into host organizations and full-time organizing roles
    • Design and execute effective recruitment plan for a diverse cohort of fellowsManage a comprehensive fellow selection process that ensures high-quality candidates are chosen
    • Recruit and manage the relationship with host organizations
    • Track and manage all relevant data in Salesforce
  • Design, write and finalize high-quality lesson plans for monthly webinars and in-person trainings for the Community Organizing Fellowship. This work should also include leading facilitation and supporting a diverse group of guest facilitators.
  • Design and execute a strategy to inspire and develop members interested in organizing in regions where LEE does not have a Regional Director
  • Support the Director, Organizing Partnerships and Strategy to coach and develop members interested in becoming community organizers
  • Support OCL's work to match member candidates to open organizing roles 

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience in designing, executing and facilitating programming, preferably in leadership development, community organizing or education fields
  • At least 1 year of experience in coaching adults
  • Highly effective communication, facilitation, coaching and relationship building skills
  • Ability to accurately track metrics and progress to goals efficiently and effectively
  • Excitement about working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment that requires strong flexibility as LEE continuously learns how to best achieve impact for students
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least three years professional experience
  • Demonstrated impact as a program manager
  • Demonstrated ability to work in close partnership across multiple teams
  • Experience in politics, organizing, or civic engagement and/or non-profit organizations(501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4))
