ABOUT MIKE
Mike Johnston is a small businessman, community leader, and former two-term Senator from Northeast Denver. He grew up in Eagle County, the son of bartender and music teacher. After college, he moved to Greenville, Mississippi, where he was a teacher at a rural, low-income high school. That experience motivated him to return to Colorado and ensure more children have access to a high quality education. He served as principal of The Mapleton School, a school serving at-risk and high needs kids, and helped improve it. In the Senate, Mike helped pass major progressive legislation, including Colorado's DREAM Act to guarantee undocumented students a fair shot at college, the CLEAR Act fighting to stop racial discrimination in the criminal justice system, and JUMP START to help grow new businesses in our rural counties. ORGANIZER ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Build meaningful relationships with communities and supporters in-person and on various digital platforms
Develop assigned turf into cohesive teams that turn out voters
Recruit, manage, and train community members and supporters to become volunteer leaders that will organize their communities and neighborhoods
Supplement a plan to organize assigned turf based on its unique characteristics
Plan and execute events and trainings for our grassroots capacity-building and small dollar fundraising program; voter education and registration program; absentee, early voting, and GOTV program; and direct voter contact program
Ensure same-day data entry and data integrity
Meet expectations as required including significant travel and non-traditional work hours
Report directly to the Organizing Director
