[jobsthatareLEFT] Political Leadership Coordinator at HEAL Food Alliance in Oakland, CA or Chicago, IL

Political Leadership CoordinatorHEAL Food Alliance

Apply to join us in uplifting the power of communities mobilizing for healthy, green, fair, and affordable food system

About the HEAL (Health, Environment, Agriculture, Labor) Food Alliance: HEAL is a national multi-sector, multi-racial, multi-generational alliance that seeks to build a people-powered movement for transformative change in our local and national food systems, from the corner store to Capitol Hill. The Alliance is anchored by the Food Chain Workers Alliance, Movement Strategy Center, the National Black Food & Justice Alliance, Real Food Generation, and the Union of Concerned Scientists.

Our work is values-driven, based in authentic relationships, and we are dedicated to building and amplifying the power of frontline communities who are simultaneously most negatively impacted by our current food system, and are at the forefront of changing it.

About HEAL's Political Work: The industrial food system is propped up by food and agriculture policies created and maintained by powerful lobbyists. This food system is failing many of our communities, yet few political leaders champion comprehensive food systems reform.  HEAL aims to ensure that policymakers are poised and supported to advocate for changes aligned with community needs for just food and farm policy, including intersecting policy areas related to labor, immigration, urban and regional planning, environmental, and public health.

Key components include: (1) developing and managing HEAL's Political Leadership Institute (2) developing and coordinating HEAL political activities (3) creating political education materials for the Alliance and our campaigns.
