The Voter Participation Center (VPC), dedicated to increasing civic participation and balanced representation, is seeking a dynamic, motivated and experienced individual to join our team as the Program Director in our Washington, DC office.

This exciting program position will be at the center of one of the most significant voter participation efforts in 2017 and beyond.  The Program Director will be a key leader of the strategic team in designing, coordinating and ensuring the successful implementation of VPC's national and state programs.

The Voter Participation Center is a research-driven, results-oriented 501(c)(3) organization that conducts programs to help increase the civic participation rates of the three groups comprising the Rising American Electorate (RAE)—unmarried women, minorities and young people under 35--and the majority (57 percent) of the voting eligible population. Since its inception, VPC has conducted groundbreaking research and devised effective registration and mobilization strategies that target, inform, register, and turn out millions of RAE members, building their power and bringing their participation rates closer to their share of the population. VPC was the first organization to recognize the power of marital status in determining registration and turnout rates as well as political preference.

Women's Voices Women Vote Action Fund (WVWVAF) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan 501(c)(4) organization dedicated to increasing the voting participation and issue advocacy of unmarried women and the rest of the RAE and ensuring the political narrative addresses their needs and concerns.  WVWVAF is involved in elections by educating unmarried women and the rest of the RAE about the candidates and their positions on issues of importance to them. 

The Program Director will work for VPC and WVWVAF and will report to the President of VPC/WVWVAF and work in tandem with Senior Staff.  Specifically, the Program Director will:

·      Design strategies to continue to keep VPC on the cutting edge of civic engagement work.

·      Work with VPC/WVWVAF program team including data and analytics staff  and consultants to manage and implement VPC and WVWVAF voter contact and advocacy programs including Voter Registration, Vote By Mail, GOTV and Persuasion programs [on (c)(4) side].

·      Ensure that VPC/WVWVAF performs at the highest level in all core capacities, including voter contact and mobilization.

·      Ensure that all program protocols are followed, tracking all projects for mail, phone and online programs.

·      Manage program meetings.

·      Write reports, memos and briefings.

·      Work with VPC and WVWVAF partners to develop partner programs.


Qualifications:

 

·       Strong strategic skills and the ability to conceptualize and implement complex civic engagement programs;

·       At least five (5) years of experience with research–based voter engagement programs, including direct marketing mail and digital technologies;

·       Familiarity with processes used to test and measure tactics to increase voter participation and affect voter choices and experience with developing successful voter engagement, advocacy and GOTV plans;

·       Strong analytic skills in working with quantitative assessments;

·       Exemplary writing and editing skills; and

·       Creative and details-oriented thinker
