Position Summary
Progressive Turnout Project (PTP) seeks a Data and Analytics Director passionate about using data, statistics, and technology to make our targeted voter contact more impactful. We're looking for a creative person who can work with our teams to develop new insights and measure outcomes.
In this role, you will have an Analytics and Data focus. In the Analytics capacity, you will work with every department at PTP to brainstorm best practices using existing data and research and to develop and analyze field experiments that can improve the efficacy of our work. In the Data capacity, you will work with our field team to build universes, develop data best practices, and build and analyze reports.
Analytics Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and analyze field experiments in collaboration with our field and finance teams
- Write reports on experimental findings to be shared with the broader progressive community
- Build reports with recommendations and best practices for other departments utilizing existing data, as well as academic research on campaign tactics and behavioral science
- Work with and maintain relationships with academic and other research partners
Data Responsibilities:
- Identify targets and build universes in all PTP districts around the country
- Collaborate with senior field staff to develop and implement best data practices and ensure data integrity
- Collaborate with senior field staff to define and track metrics for analysis
- Construct clear and concise reports
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have at least one cycle of campaign experience as well as a background in data and analytics.
Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency in VAN
- Experience with R (preferred) or Stata
- Experience with data analysis in an academic or professional setting, preferably including experimental design and experimental data
- Excellent writing skills
- An interest in progressive politics and political activism
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in BSD
- Proficiency in SQL
- Experience managing large scale field experiments or political field programs
