DLCC SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER


Be a part of the team that will be instrumental to the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) taking back our state legislatures and — by winning crucial redistricting fights remaking the U.S. Congress to re-enfranchise millions of voters and end the GOP single party rule that's paralyzing our government.


Our task is no less than to teach a generation of voters about the central role their state legislatures play in their day-to-day lives, and in the shaping of the country.


The mission is to win Democratic majorities and build Democratic power in state legislatures.


POSITION


DLCC's Social Media Director will plan and execute social content with the goals of growing a community of advocates, strengthening the DLCC brand, and raising money for the organization.


The Social Media Director will both love to write and also love to write with the goal of motivating supporters to take action. Creativity, a sense of humor, and a respect for our community members are all required for this role. The Social Media Director will be a member of the digital team and report directly to the Digital Director.

Responsibilities
  • Conceive and manage an ambitious social campaign with a focus on long-term storytelling.
  • Draft social content that is creative, timely, and inspiring.
  • Manage the social content from start to finish, including drafting, editing, any graphic or photo design requests required, running approvals, posting, targeting, and analyzing performance.
  • Work with state houses across the country to tell stories from the states and balance priorities.
  • Work closely with a designer and outside vendor to create high- performing content.
  • Grow both DLCC's social media presence and community.
  • Work across departments to support DLCC's social media program.
  • Other duties as assigned.
EXPECTED OUTCOMES
  • DLCC has consistent and meaningful engagement with its social media community.
  • DLCC social community grows in numbers, platforms, engagement and experience.
  • DLCC's brand is strengthened.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Candidates should have at least two years of writing experience in a political, non-profit, or advocacy setting.
  • The ability to recognize a great news hook and share it with supporters in a way that fits within our candidates' narratives and the greater political landscape.
  • A personable and engaging writing style.
  • An eye for good photos and graphics that will succeed on social media, as well as the ability to work with designers to conceive of and produce them.
  • Strong attention to consistency and detail.
  • The ability to stay calm and act quickly in rapid response situations.
  • Experience with basic HTML and a constituent management system such as Blue State Digital, ActionKit, Salsa, or Convio.
  • A familiarity with political and fundraising best practices.
