The Washington Center for Equitable Growth is a research and grantmaking organization that engages with academics and policymakers to better understand and address the effects of economic inequality.
We are looking for a detail-oriented and driven individual for the role of Operations Associate. The Operations Associate will be responsible for many of the day-to-day operations of the organization and will help research and implement best practices on a variety of administrative policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
Manage building and office operations
- Act as primary contact with outside vendors that provide supplies, equipment, catering, and services
- Manage all contracted facilities work such as painters, plumbers, and locksmiths
- Work with the building engineers for repairs and upkeep
- Manage movement and placement of all office furniture, as well as the installation of all whiteboards and corkboards and assemble furniture when necessary
- Manage office signage and business card orders
- Assist Events team as necessary, including on-site and public events
Coordinate human resources duties
- Own logistics and tracking for recruiting and hiring, working closely with the hiring supervisor, including: resumes, interviews, posting jobs, and outreach to networks
- Coordinate new-hire setup, associated ordering, technological needs with tech team including day-of tour and onboarding
- Process payroll
- Work with the Director of Finance and Administration on continuing to implement and improve processes, policy, and procedures for the organization
- Organize staff meetings, retreats, and related events and gatherings
- Coordinate benefits administration and renewal
Other operations duties
- Assist with budget and expense forecasting for the operations team
- Manage the contracts process for administrative contracts
- Work with the Grants and Finance Assistant to find tasks and areas where they can assist each other and other staff, and act as the backup when the Grants and Finance Assistant is out of the office
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications and requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or combination of education and equivalent experience
- One to three years of relevant office management or human resources experience
- Demonstrated use of good judgment when weighing best use of resources and dealing with sensitive information
- Strong time management skills, ability to organize, set priorities, and follow through
- Ability to work effectively on multiple projects with multiple deadlines simultaneously
- Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work with teams to achieve results, as well as ability to work independently and take initiative
- Excellent office, organizational, and planning skills; creativity in streamlining processes and efficiency
- Extreme flexibility, with a strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit
