The Tennessee Democratic Party is seeking an Organizing and Outreach Director who will oversee all grassroots outreach, operations and mobilization for the state party. The Director is responsible for working with TNDP external (outside the TNDP structure) allied resistance and issue groups as well as community, faith-based, civil rights, labor, progressive and other allied or affiliated organizations. The Director will also build and maintain relationships with local media as well as non-traditionally allied groups, clubs, and organizations, i.e. Chambers, Rotaries, etc. On their own, and through the TNDP Field Organizer Program, the Director will be responsible for maintaining and developing strong relationships and strong networks while advancing organizing principles necessary to win elections for Democrats.
Responsibilities include:
Building and managing relationships and partnerships with allied resistance and issue groups as well as community, faith-based, civil rights, labor, progressive and other allied or affiliated organizations.
Building and managing relationships with clubs, groups and organizations that are not traditionally allied with the Democratic Party, i.e. Chambers, Rotaries, etc.
Implementing a plan to build TNDP relationships with local media.
Serving as the main point of contact and ensuring good communication between TNDP and allied resistance and issue groups as well as community, faith-based, civil rights, labor, progressive and other allied or affiliated organizations and facilitate.
Designing and implementing a plan to ensure regular communication and organizing opportunities for Democratic Party and elected officials with allied resistance and issue groups, community, faith-based, civil rights, labor, progressive and other allied or affiliated organizations.
Working with the Political Department, develop grassroots trainings and the materials necessary to make them successful, i.e. resulting in well-run grassroots organizations and campaigns.
Representing the TNDP at external events and meetings.
Managing TNDP Field Organizer Program.
Qualifications:
Experience in a grassroots, field or operations position inside a political campaign, public sector, non-profit, private industry and/or trade association.
Ability to juggle multiple roles and responsibilities.
Ability to build relationships based on trust and resource sharing.
Must have a car, car insurance, and driver's license and enjoy driving and traveling in Tennessee
Track record of bringing creative solutions to the job.
At least 2 cycles of political outreach experience is preferred, though other outreach experience will be considered.
Exemplary time management, planning, and organizational skills.
Detail-oriented and able to prioritize and manage multiple projects and staff.
Experience with VAN and NGP.
Experience in and knowledge of the political landscape and key people/organizations in Tennessee.
