Carolyn Bourdeaux, an Associate Professor at the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University, is exploring a run against incumbent Republican Congressman Rob Woodall in the 7th Congressional District of Georgia.
There are only two Republican-held Congressional Districts in Georgia where Hillary Clinton received above 41% of the vote. The 6th District, where Democrat Jon Ossoff is in a neck and neck special election run-off (and where Clinton received 47% of the vote), and the 7th District, where Clinton received 45% of the vote. Carolyn is currently hiring finance staff as she explores a run in this very winnable district.
Carolyn would bring progressive values and real practical government experience to Congress. In Georgia she served as the Director of Georgia's Senate Budget and Evaluation Office, and is the founding director of the Center for State and Local Finance. In Washington, she has served as a legislative aide in both the House and the Senate. Carolyn is a graduate of Yale University.
Republican incumbent Congressman Woodall touts, in his official website, that he has served as "Chairman of the Budget and Spending Task Force, where he authored the most conservative budget to come before Congress in the last 5 years, to Chairman of the Republican Study Committee, the caucus comprised of the Republican conference's most conservative Members."
