Overview:
The Governance Coordinator is a high level administrative position that works closely with the Executive Director, Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel and both the Greenpeace, Inc. and Greenpeace Fund, Inc. boards. This position will serve as the key link between the senior management of the organization and the two boards. The Governance Coordinator will also be the key link between voting members and the Greenpeace, Inc. board. The Governance Coordinator will play the crucial role of working with the board to create and manage the board development strategy, as well as the board's fundraising efforts. This position will also manage board communication with voting members, who elect the board.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the chief contact person between both Greenpeace U.S. boards and senior management of the organization, as well as the voting members of Greenpeace, Inc.;
- Advise board members on key governance issues;
- Assist with board member recruitment and orientation;
- Assist in managing board committee work (finance, board elections, voting member appointments, etc.);
- Stay informed of governance best practices;
- Keep organizational records, such as articles, bylaws, and minutes;
- Coordinate the submission of materials to board members prior to board meetings.
- Provide logistical assistance for board meeting preparation and planning events.
Qualifications:
- Exceptional facilitation and people skills;
- Strong communication and administrative skills;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills;
- Strong attention to detail;
- Prior experience working with boards a plus;
- Excellent judgment, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality;
- Self starter who works well independently as well within a team;
- Strong commitment to ensuring the organization is an equitable, diverse and inclusive space.
