About Us
Campaign Greenhouse is a new organization, piloting in 2017. We pick up where recruitment and training leaves off, coaching down-ballot candidates all the way through their elections. If we do it right, every Democrat or progressive candidate running for city or county council, mayor, school board, garbage commissioner, town meeting, etc... will have a campaign that is supported, connected to experts, and part of a larger movement of building for the future. This year is a beta test – we're using the leanest possible infrastructure to pilot the audacious concept of providing real, human support to hundreds and thousands of candidates at once. We're pretty sure 30% of our assumptions are wrong – our goal in 2017 is to figure out which ones they are. There will be lots of false starts and urgent fixes, lots of trying multiple solutions and being willing to throw everything out and start over. Think hard about whether this gives you hives or whether you would thrive in this kind of build-as-we-go environment.
We have a rock-solid operations team in place and we care a lot about building a work environment that is as supportive as it is challenging. There is no fuzz (h/t Jim Comey) on this commitment: You will get paid on time, reimbursed for expenses, and otherwise cared for in a way that empowers you to focus on the work.
Job: Organizer/Customer Service
Let's be honest, the job description is kind of up in the air. We're getting hundreds of candidates and political operatives to do something brand new, so we think there are going to be a lot of questions and glitches Our best guess at the job's major components:
Recruitment, On-boarding High-volume outreach to potential candidates and partners, getting them set up in multiple systems.
Communications Staying in touch with our various audiences over social media, email and Slack.
Logistics/Concierge Shepherding people through processes that are certain to be bumpy at the beginning. Identifying systemic problems and proposing solutions.
Qualifications:
Our ideal person for this job: a field organizer with an eye for systems, a knack for social media, and a heart for down-ballot candidates.
Must be a friendly, extroverted people person. The ideal candidate will be unflappable and comfortable with imperfect solutions. Must be nimble with all things computer – we are using Google Suite, Airtable, Action Network and Slack, and we need you to navigate them with ease and grace. Must have experience on the ground with political candidates or state parties, but if you think candidates for local office are stupid, crazy or annoying, this is not the job for you. Must be committed to the Campaign Greenhouse mission and goals. Washington DC preferred.
Term, Salary and Benefits:
This is a short-term position through November 2017 with the possibility of extending through 2018 or indefinitely. We are committed to diversity, equity and inclusion, and are working to craft policies that support pay equity. The salary range for this position is $4,000 to $5,500 per month. Benefits are commensurate with similar DC jobs and flexible since we're brand new; let's talk about what you need.
