DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE
ORGANIZATIONAL PROFILE: The Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization designed to promote partnerships between the City and the private sector to support public programs. Established in 1994 (formerly Public-Private Initiatives), the organization serves as an important vehicle for foundations, corporations and individuals to contribute to City programs that enhance the lives of New Yorkers. The Mayor's Fund is committed to facilitating innovative public-private partnerships that support NYC's emerging needs, while simultaneously evaluating the efficacy and merit of programs for future funding.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The Mayor's Fund seeks a Development Associate who will play an integral role in supporting the office to engage the private sector with New York City public projects. This position reports to the Director of Development and works closely with other staff members of the Mayor's Fund. The responsibilities of the Development Associate include, but are not limited to:
· Managing data entry, tracking, clean-up, and reporting in Raiser's Edge for the Development Team. Maintain overall database integrity. Serve as lead on donor acknowledgements;
· Coordinating research on prospective corporations, foundations, and individual funders related to the priorities of The Mayor's Fund;
· Assisting with the preparation and review of grant applications, program collaterals, reports, and proposals to institutional, individual and corporate donors;
· Working in conjunction with the Programs and Policy Team, track all information for Foundation letters of inquiry and review agency proposals to funders;
· Coordinating communications to the Board of Advisors, including regular newsletters, special updates, and program briefings;
· Working closely with the finance department, track invoices and payments;
· Maintaining donor tracking tools, files, and other department related materials;
· Preparing reports and other documents for both internal and external audiences;
· Participates in coordination and execution of high-level meetings and events. Coordinate all necessary logistics on behalf of the Executive Director and Director of Development; and
· Perform other duties as requested by the Director of Development.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates should have a passion for creating and nurturing strategic partnerships and connections between philanthropic leaders, city agencies, and community-based organizations to increase opportunity, access and equity for all NYC residents. A successful candidate will possess:
· Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education and the equivalent of 1 year of work experience;
· 1-2 years of fundraising and development experience;
· Familiarity with Raiser's Edge or equivalent fundraising database;
· Exceptional written and verbal communications skills;
· Strong attention to detail;
· Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced, high energy environment;
· A team player, resourceful, organized and results oriented;
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
· Familiarity with the NYC philanthropic community a plus.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience
