The City of Minneapolis Office of Intergovernmental Relations (IGR) advocates for the City at various governmental levels. This position has been a pathway for careers in government relations and public policy, and is a hands-on in-depth introduction to local and state government.
The Seasonal Legislative Aide will work with IGR staff as they advocate for the City of Minneapolis' legislative agenda at the Minnesota state legislature. This position is involved in policy research-monitoring, analysis, and development for a broad range of topics. It provides opportunities for professional networking and development opportunities.
The most successful candidate for this position will have an understanding of the Minnesota state legislature, an interest in legislative/local government policy issues, and a desire to work in a fast-paced, engaging, and analytical work environment.
Required Education & Experience
Some post-high school education, preferably with coursework in political science, economics, social sciences, public policy, or humanities. BA preferred.
No experience required - however, working knowledge of legislative processes is preferred.
