314 Action
314 Action is a new organization dedicated to scientific advocacy as well as recruiting, training and electing candidates with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) backgrounds to all levels of public office. 314 Action has recently been featured by many news outlets including the Atlantic, the Washington Post and CNN. 314 Action was referred to as the "EMILYs List for scientists" in Roll Call and we have already endorsed 6 top Congressional candidates across the country, while working with many more.
314 Action, seeks a Deputy Development Director to build and grow its mid-range ($1k-$5k annually) fundraising operation. The ideal candidate will have experience raising money for a political campaign or political organizations and is looking to get off the campaign trail while getting in early with a new and dynamic organization. Our Deputy Development Director should not be afraid to grind it out on the phones and is an outside the box thinker who will thrive in a startup environment with minimal bureaucratic hurdles. The Deputy Development Director will report to the Executive Director and will work with other members of our team including our Major Gifts team.
Responsibilities
· Responsible for all mid-range fundraising, donors giving $1k-$5k annually
· Implementing a robust Finance Plan to maximize revenues from our mid-range donors using tools such as calltime, events, email, and utilizing raisers
· Manage our President and senior staff calltime
· Identify prospects and outline cultivation and solicitation tactics
· Direct the growth of a mid-range gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of mid-range donors
· Recruit and manage interns
· Build and manage relationships with current and prospective donors and funders
· Track and report on fundraising progress on a regular, ongoing basis
· Oversee fundraising database
· Other responsibilities as required
Qualifications
· At least a cycle of experience in political campaign or organization fundraising
· Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and NGP required
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Experience in a fast-paced campaign atmosphere
· Excellent organizational and time management skills
· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
· Ability to manage several tasks/projects at the same time
· Flexibility and the ability to capitalize on opportunities that present themselves in fundraising
· An entrepreneurial spirit
· Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment
· Hard working and highly organized
