Finance Director
Democratic State House Campaign in Denver, Colorado
Position Description
A campaign for an open seat in the Colorado House of Representatives is seeking a Finance Director. This will be a competitive primary in a heavily Democratic district. Our goal is to bring someone on by the end of 2017, and the position will run through July 3rd of 2018, one week after Primary Day.
Key Responsibilities
· Oversee and implement all finance efforts as well as working with the Candidate to map out strategy for each department.
· Develop a detailed budget and fundraising plan in conjunction with the Candidate.
· Maintain strong relationships with all existing and potential donors.
· Oversee the campaign's bank account as well as payroll for the staff.
· Oversee and keep up-to-date the campaign's online TRACER account with the Colorado Secretary of State's office.
· Aid the candidate with best practices for financial solicitation and staff call time as needed.
· Provide support to the Candidate's call time operations, including overseeing appropriate donor research and preparation of regular outreach lists.
· Planning and executing all finance events with support from the staff and Candidate as needed.
· Manage all finance-related data.
· Ensure all Secretary of State filings are accurate and on time.
· Recruiting and managing finance interns and volunteers.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree.
· At least one, preferable two, cycles of campaign experience.
· Bonus points for knowledge and experience in the Denver/Colorado political environment.
· Must be proficient in use of the Microsoft Office suite (particularly Excel).
· Must have some experience in data use and management. Must have at least a basic knowledge of VAN (aka Vote Builder). Experience with NGP, Microsoft Access, other databases a plus.
· Should have a well-honed ability to take the initiative, be comfortable networking at events and speaking publicly as the candidate's representative.
· Understanding of campaign fundraising and solicitation practices. Call-time management experience is a plus.
· Must have a functioning laptop, reliable transportation, and valid Driver's License.
Compensation
Salary is commensurate with experience. A bonus structure may be built into the Finance Director's compensation package. A win-bonus will be included in the Finance Director's contract equal to one month's pay.
