New Virginia Majority (NVM) is hiring part time Organizers for its 2017 community organizing and outreach program. We are seeking individuals with a deep commitment to working with people of all backgrounds to foster their civic engagement and help them make a difference in their communities. This position is also a unique opportunity to hold Virginia officials accountable through organizing efforts.
Ideal candidates will be highly organized, detail-oriented self-starters who thrive on person to person contact. Candidates should be knowledgeable about Virginia's political landscape. Working independently and with fellow staff and volunteers, successful candidates will execute the following duties:
• Advance NVM's outreach program through voter contact methods like canvassing and phone banking
• Engage voters by helping them foster a sense of civic engagement in themselves and their communities
• Familiarize voters with NVM's issue campaigns and overall progressive vision and help attract new members
• Ensure accurate and complete data on all of the above is submitted in a timely fashion
•Assist Regional Field Director in meeting program goals and other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
* A valid driver's license and reliable transportation
* Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
* Excellent organizational and communication skills
* Excellent problem-solving skills
* Demonstrated willingness and ability to complete required tasks in a campaign setting
* Self-motivation and ability to work independently
