Overview
The Amendment 2 ballot initiative campaign seeks a Political & Coalitions Director based in Florida. The Political & Coalitions Director is responsible for directly supervising Regional Coordinators and building and organizing a coherent statewide infrastructure to ensure passage of Amendment 2. This is not an entry-level position and requires a general understanding of and interest in Florida statewide politics and government.
Position and Responsibilities
The Political & Coalitions Director is employed by Amendment 2 and reports to the Campaign Manager. This is a full-time, salaried position through Election Day, 2018. The Political & Coalitions Director should expect to work long, irregular hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Travel throughout a region and occasionally the state is necessary. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Creation and execution of a field program
Creation and execution of training programs
Supervision of Regional Coordinators
Data and database management
Creation and presentation of political materials
Statewide coalition building
Liaison to federal, state & local campaigns/initiatives
Outreach to current and former elected officials
Voter targeting & voter data analysis
Establish and maintain partner relationships
Public speaking
Research
Administrative tasks and weekly reporting
Coordination with existing vendor team
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Qualified candidates for this position are highly organized and able to remain on task remotely. They display calm under pressure and are able to work with a wide variety of personalities and people under demanding circumstances. Interested candidates of all parties, ethnicities, genders and backgrounds are encouraged to apply, with the following skills and qualifications preferred:
At least two cycles of experience in electoral politics or on campaigns
Experience in local/state government
Willingness to work with bi-partisan organizations and groups
Ability to speak in front of large groups
Professional demeanor and comfort in social situations
A bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
Existing connections with statewide memberships organizations
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Access to a personal vehicle and valid Florida driver's license
Experience with voter databases
Ability to meet deadlines and goals
Collaborative and collegial worker
Experience in community/coalition building
