A competitive statewide campaign in Minnesota is seeking a communications director to join our team. The Communications Director will be an advisor on and coordinate positioning/messaging, communications and social media strategy, and be very involved in setting overall campaign strategy. Applicants should have a passion for progressive politics, and the ability to work cohesively as a part of a team.
Duties
Lead social media program
Cultivate and maintain relationships with political media (newspapers, blogs, etc.) and reporters throughout the state
Lead rapid response team
Help analyze and counter opponent messaging and media strategy
Write press releases, op-eds, letters-to-the-editor, memos to the press, etc.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
At least two cycles of experience in political communication
Experience on statewide campaigns preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated experience and success working with media
Track record of creativity, initiative, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced, demanding and stressful environment with standard campaign hours
Some knowledge of Minnesota politics
Salary
