Overview
You will be posted in a specific location in the district and assigned a targeted list of voters in that location to communicate with and turn into our supporters. Your ultimate job is to ensure that as many of the voters on your list as possible turn out to vote on June 26 (or vote by absentee ballot).
You will be, essentially, the campaign's ambassador to your assigned location, responsible for all outreach that the campaign does in that area, the recruitment and management of volunteers there, and ultimately achieving the targeted win number in your precincts.
Your immediate supervisor is the campaign's field director.
Specific Tasks
1. Canvassing
You will be expected to canvass daily from 4:30-8:00 on weekdays and variable times on Saturdays and Sundays. You will need to knock on a minimum of 400 doors per week. You will get walk lists and other materials from the field director and report your daily results to him. We will train you on the specifics of canvassing and what we are looking for.
2. Volunteer management
To leverage your efforts you will manage canvassing by volunteers in your assigned territory. You will be required to provide a brief training to the volunteers, make sure they have everything they need for a successful canvass, and collect their daily results and then pass those on to the field director.
3. Volunteer recruitment
The campaign will provide you with some volunteers in your territory but we will always need more, and it's your job to find them by coordinating with political, student, civic, and activist groups and convincing people to come and help you. You will be the link between campaign HQ and the volunteers, so you'll need to coordinate the logistics of getting what your volunteers need from the campaign to be successful in the field. You have to be a team leader who can motivate and lead diverse groups of volunteers and give them all the support they need to do the best work they are capable of.
4. Community outreach
You will be responsible for maximizing the campaign's on-the-ground communication with the communities you are handling, which could involve helping us stage and staff meet-and-greets, fundraisers, events with the candidate, presence at community events like parades, pancake breakfasts, etc. You may also be asked to act as a surrogate for the candidate, speaking to civic groups, schools, and the like.
This is a full-time position.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
