A Texas State Senate race is seeking a Communications and Outreach Director. The
Communications and Outreach Director will be responsible for disseminating the campaign's
message through written and verbal communications on a daily basis with direction and input for
our communications consultant and the candidate. You will work to make sure that the
campaign is delivering a clear, engaging. and contrastive message on a frequent and consistent
basis across all channels. Outreach to both the press and the community is a key part of this
job you must have great written and verbal communications skills, be goal driven and extremely
organized.
Goals and Responsibilities:
● Creating and executing proactive online and traditional media outreach plan
● Maintaining relationships with press contacts
● Engaging with supportive organizations and constituencies
● Manage endorsement questionnaire process
● Collect reports and maintaining consistent communications with political stakeholders
● Oversee and execute email communications
● Identify opportunities for social content
● Manage and maintain campaign website
● Set and meet communication goals online and offline
● Overseeing and managing correspondence on behalf of campaign
● Identify opportunities for candidate to engage with key constituencies through events
● Assist with field operations as needed.
Required Qualifications:
● Willingness to work nights and weekends
● Willingness to go above and beyond
● Keen interest in Democratic politics and willingness to learn and grow
● Strong oral and written communication skills
● Excellent interpersonal capacity
● Meticulous attention to detail
● Familiarity with how to plan, write, and deliver broadcast emails
● Strong grasp of social media
