For more than 100 years, women, men, and young people have relied on Planned Parenthood for accessible and affordable quality healthcare, accurate information and comprehensive health education. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic (PPSAT) is a nonprofit health care provider offering a wide range of affordable and reliable reproductive and sexual health care services in our 14 locations across North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.


PPSAT is seeking a highly motivated, responsible, outgoing, creative, pro-choice Digital Organizer to manage digital organizing activities in West Virginia in opposition to Amendment One, an anti-abortion ballot initiative on the November 2018 ballot.


The Digital Organizer will work closely with the Field Manager to conduct digital organizing activities that engage supporters and build capacity in West Virginia. The Digital Organizer will provide key support to the Vote No on Amendment 1 Campaign. The ideal candidate for this position will be results-driven self-starter who has experience using online tools to tell the story of a campaign, identifying new supporters, and organizing people online to take action both online and offline.


This is a temporary, full-time position, generally working Monday-Friday but frequent night and weekend work will be required. The Digital Organizer can work remotely but must be able to maintain availability during Eastern Time regular business hours.



Essential Functions

    • Manage all aspects of digital organizing in the state of West Virginia, specifically for the Amendment One Campaign.
    • Conduct activities in line with the statewide Vote No on Amendment One digital strategic plan
    • Work closely with organizers on the ground to build a cohesive campaign that fully integrates supporters across a range of online and offline engagement.
    • Design and execute successful digital campaigns across multiple platforms, including producing original digital content on behalf of the campaign and collaborating with staff and media consultants as appropriate.
    • Update website with the latest and most relevant actions and information
    • Generate opportunities to identify and engage campaign supporters and drive measurable online actions through alerts, infographics, key messages, etc.
    • Utilize social media and texting programs to maximize digital list building
    • Ensure active monitoring, rapid response, and moderation across social channels during and outside of business hours.
    • Perform uploads to email database and facilitating email campaign list selection and segmentation testing and strategy
    • Study the landscape of West Virginia digital communications; identifying key voices for amplifying message
    • Understand and apply data analytics related to the campaign email list, website, and social channels to improve the effectiveness of the campaign
    • Work with coalition partners to educate voters on Amendment One.
    • Reach and grow a network of activists that are responsive and engaged with the campaign, with a focus on moving supporters from online to offline engagement.
    • Contribute to a positive work environment by following through on tasks, taking initiative, working with the team and identifying solutions.
    • Adhere to affiliate policies and procedures including meetings and training requirements, ensuring punctuality and attendance, and following personnel policies.

Qualifications

    • Previous experience of a minimum of at least one fully executed digital organizing campaign and the ability to mentor others in digital organizing skills
    • Proficiency in the strategic use of Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms, as well as social media management systems (i.e. Hootsuite)
    • Knowledge NGP VAN / EveryAction and Hustle
    • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills with excellent organizational skills.
    • Proven problem-solving ability.
    • Must be comfortable with basic computer tasks including email, calendar,
    • Google docs, and Microsoft Office.
    • Able to explain complex public policies in clear, understandable language.
    • Ability to work well with diverse groups, demonstrated respect for diversity.
    • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
    • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Salary

    • $20.00 per hour
