Community Voices Heard Power! (CVH Power) is a multiracial member-led organization that works to build power and create a racially, socially and economically just New York State through grassroots political organizing. We seek out, politically educate, train, encourage and support aspiring candidates of color as well as persons that ideologically align, support, and further our agenda to advance low-income communities of color across our five New York chapters -- New York City, Westchester Co., Orange Co., Rockland Co., and Dutchess Co.-- and subsequently New York State.
Join a dynamic team of individuals who want to mobilize voters in our communities for the 2018 election season. During this important election year, Community Voices Heard Power will be leading an effort to engage voters through our door-to-door canvassing efforts.
Canvassers will work as a team during a six-week period going door-to-door and making phone calls. Canvassing will begin in late September and culminate on November 6th, Election Day.
Time frame: September 2018- November 2018
Pay: $15 an hour
REQUIREMENTS:
● Ability and comfort approaching in speaking to a wide variety of people
● Strong communications skills
● Previous outreach or campaign experience preferred (but not required)
● Strong work ethic
● Ability to work evening and weekends
● Detail Oriented
● Passion for politics and upcoming 2018 elections
● Be able to work with a team
● Self-motivated
● Ability to speak a language other than English is a speaking preferred (but not required)
