JOB SUMMARY

For Our Future Nevada seeks full-time motivated, outgoing, and results-driven progressive organizers to support our voter outreach efforts in Washoe County as well as the surrounding communities in the greater Washoe area in northern Nevada, including Carson City. You will run the day-to-day voter contact in your assigned turf and work to engage voters on local and national causes, and campaigns that matter to them.

 

Successful candidates will bring all or most of the following skills and attributes to this position: a commitment to teamwork; an exceptional ability to stay organized, to manage their time effectively, and to juggle several priorities that may change quickly; and finally possess a keen attention to detail.

 

Work will, at times, be scheduled in the evenings and/or weekends. This position requires creativity and flexibility due to the fast-paced nature and mission of our organization.

 

Northern Nevada Voter Outreach Organizers will report directly to the Relational Voter Program Coordinator. This is a full-time position through at least June 15, 2021.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

●      Organize on the ground, building relationships with voters, in diverse communities with the core goals of:

○      Persuading voters to vote for progressive candidates and issues

○      Motivating targeted voters to vote for progressive candidates and issues

●      Perform voter contact functions daily, to ensure that daily, weekly, and monthly goals are met. This includes the following:

○      Phone calls to voters

○      Texting voters

○      Collecting personal stories from voters within the community

●      Meet assigned goals associated with each metric on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

●      Report daily on quantitative and qualitative metrics, ensuring timely and accurate data entry and reporting.

●      Recruit volunteers to help meet your daily, weekly, and monthly goals.

 

Qualifications:

●      High school diploma or equivalent (GED). 

●      At least 1-2 cycles of campaign or other voter contact experience.

●      Knowledge of Votebuilder/VAN is preferred, but not required.

●      Must have access to reliable transportation.

●      Ability to work long and irregular hours in a fast-paced, metrics-driven work environment.

●      Ability to meet deadlines under pressure while handling multiple projects.

●      Ability to work independently and in team settings.

●      Strong interpersonal communications skills.

●      Possess a winning mentality.

●      Bilingual experience is a plus, but not required.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

●      None

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

●      Because of COVID-19, state and local government stay at home orders, phased reopening orders, and other factors limit For Our Future's in-person activities. When these limits apply, your work environment will likely be your domicile (teleworking) or a socially distanced office. When it is possible to safely and appropriately in-person activities, it will be a high priority for this role to stage, launch, and manage issue advocacy programs. Employees may occasionally be required to work in extreme weather conditions, including rain, heat, and cold. This position is expected to interact regularly with community partners face-to-face or in a group setting and may also be expected to interact face-to-face with volunteers or voters.

 

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

●      Employees may be required to work outside of normal business hours including weekends, holidays, and nights.

●      Employees may be required to abide by certain blackout dates during a campaign cycle, and generally not allowed to take more than 2-3 days off consecutively during blackout periods. Emergencies will not be affected by this policy.
