Seeking an experienced California Finance Director for an incumbent Member of Congress.  


The California Finance Director is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising plan that includes call time, low and high dollar events and donor research and prospecting. In addition, the California Finance Director will work closely with the national finance team in implementing tools necessary to reach high goals. The Finance Director will also work with the database management and compliance teams. 


Expectations include:

  • Implement the campaign finance plan for all of California, as well as work within already set goal
  • Work with the Member and his designee to ensure the finance goals are being met
  • Work in conjunction with the treasurer and compliance staff; assist compliance staff with completion of campaign finance reports as needed 
  • Keep accurate accounting of all incoming donations; manage deposits; follow-up with thank you, etc.
  • Solicit donations directly
  • Arrange meetings with potential contributors
  • Plan and organize fundraising events
  • Plan and execute trips to Los Angeles, San Diego, and other cities; will require periodic travel
  • Manage and staff call time
  • Write solicitations and other finance-related materials including letters and email blasts
  • Prepare briefing materials for the Member and other staff
  • Hire, manage, and train staff, interns, and volunteers as needed or directed


Qualifications:

  • 2+ cycles of campaign finance experience, previous statewide or congressional campaign finance director experience preferred
  • Prior experience with targeting contributors and follow up management
  • Donor prospecting and research experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of federal campaign and ethics finance law
  • Knowledge of NGP, BSD, and Excel
  • Experience managing staff
  • Strong written and communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, highly organized, attention to details, and communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work across several time zones
  • Time management skills are a must
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
