Position Summary    

Transgender Law Center's Digital Media Coordinator will work at the heart of a movement of transgender people and allies collaborating to create a world where we are all free to define ourselves and our futures. We are looking for a motivated and mission-oriented person with graphic design skills, community management experience, and deep knowledge of and commitment to transgender and gender nonconforming (TGNC) communities and racial justice.

Based in TLC's Oakland headquarters (with the possibility of remote for the right person), this position will work with the Director of Communications to maintain TLC's editorial calendar and online presence, create compelling images and messages for the organization's base, and develop and execute digital advocacy and development campaigns. This position will work collaboratively with staff from across departments to develop compelling, accessible and timely content that engages community members and advances TLC's intersectional priorities.

Responsibilities

Creative Writing/Design

  • Craft petitions, forms, email blasts, and other digital engagement tools through our constituent relationship management (CRM) software.
  • Develop timely, compelling, and targeted content for all of TLC's online platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and website.
  • Design graphics for social media and email campaigns that adhere to TLC brand guidelines.
  • Design resources, infographics, and promotional materials.
  • Write and set up blog posts and other content for publication on Transgender Law Center's website.

Digital Media Management and Strategy

  • Maintain TLC's website for accuracy and relevance, including coordinating with program and legal departments to keep materials and resources up-to-date.
  • In collaboration with appropriate staff, develop and execute social media strategy advancing TLC's legal, advocacy, organizing, and development work.
  • Maintain TLC's editorial calendar, working with legal and organizing staff to ensure appropriate representation of all areas of TLC's work.
  • Manage TLC's social media presence, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube accounts.
  • In collaboration with Director of Communications, determine and implement best ways to display new initiatives on website.

Service Orientation

  • Be responsive to community requests and inquiries that come in through social media.
  • Support as needed with the production of printed collateral and resources.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Ability to develop content and creative assets that demonstrate a commitment to racial, economic, and gender justice and an understanding of the communities TLC represents
  • Ability to design and create compelling visual content consistent with TLC brand
  • Proficiency with a range of social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite or other graphic design software
  • Experience with WordPress or similar content management system
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word
  • Experience with CRM software
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong level of emotional intelligence
  • Ability to sort multiple priorities and respond to the needs of a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Experience working in teams with people from a variety of racial, ethnic, socioeconomic,         educational, religious, sexual, gender, and generational backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-3 years' related experience
  • Advanced web development skills a plus
  • Video and photography experience a plus
  • Ability to travel as needed, 3-4 times a year

Salary and Benefits

Salary range is $55-67K, commensurate with the candidate's experience and skills. Benefits include comprehensive health (medical, dental, vision and FSA), matched retirement savings, and a sabbatical program.
