Description: The Executive Director, working with the Pima County Democratic Party (PCDP)
Chair and party officers, oversees daily programmatic and fundraising activities of PCDP. The
Executive Director is responsible for assisting in winning elections for Democrats in a complex,
competitive political environment. The Executive Director reports to the PCDP Chair.
Location of position: Tucson, Arizona
Start Date: mid to late January 2019
Term: This position serves at the discretion of the PCDP Chair.
Position Salary: $40-50K plus benefits
Termination: Either party may terminate the employment agreement at any time for any
reason, by providing the other party thirty (30) days written notice.

Primary responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
Party Building:
Under the direction of the PCDP Chair
• Carry out the official directions of the Chair.• Serve as a resource for PCDP Officers, District Chairs, and Precinct Committee Members(PCs).
• Assist in management of political relationships with allied groups.• Assist in recruiting, training and communicating with the Pima County PrecinctCommittee Members.• Ensure volunteer staffing for office clerical and front desk duties.• Maintain PC database for official communication.• Plan and coordinate PCDP conventions.• Be one of the employees that can attend and present at District and allied groupmeetings.• Represents PCDP at community functions.Fundraising:Under the direction of the Chair and Fundraising Committee:• Developing fundraising plan• Build and maintain relationships with donors and potential donors.• Plan and coordinate fundraising events.
Financial:
Under the direction of the Chair and Treasurer (as appropriate):• Assist in development of strategic PCDP plan and operating budget.• Develop annual Party and project budgets.• Maintain transaction level records (for revenue, expenses, asset, liabilities) that supporttransactions in the accounting database.• Establish good internal control over financial processes and practices.• Document standard office procedures (SOPs).• Ensure financial records are audit ready, i.e., that records fully support financial reports.• Ensure contributions and expenditures comply with local, state, and federal campaignfinance laws.• Comply with State and State Democratic Party monthly, quarterly, and annual reportingrequirements.
Communications:
Under the direction of the PCDP Chair:• Develop media strategy for PCDP.• Build relationships with media outlets.• Write press releases and statements for PCDP.• Serve as PCDP spokesperson.• Coordinate new media presence.• Write website, email, blog, and new media content.• Ability to communicate in Spanish, in addition to English, would be a plus.
Field:
Assist the PCDP Chair to:• Develop and coordinate field programs in coordination with candidates and ADP.• Hire, train, and manage field staff.• Increase voter registration, vote-by-mail sign up, and Democratic voter turnout.Candidate Services:• Assist in recruiting and communicating with candidates in Pima County.• Ensure coordination between candidates, consultants, and Party.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Track record of success in Executive/Senior level management in political campaigns(could include public sector, not-for-profit, military service, private industry and/ortrade associations).• A proven successful executive with the ability to provide dynamic internal and externalleadership.• Understands the competitive issues; aware of the political landscape and howcollaborative strategies around the state work for the betterment of Pima CountyDemocratic Party.• An excellent internal leader recognized for the ability to develop, motivate, manage andbuild functional teams that regularly achieve and maintain superior levels ofperformance.• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a credible reputation and high profilepresence in the community on behalf of the Pima County Democratic Party.• Proven excellence in written and oral communication. Media experience is essential.• Experience in soliciting and securing donor dollars.• Knowledgeable in current and possible future practices, trends, and other informationaffecting the Democratic Party in Arizona and the country.• Excellent manager of paid staff and volunteers.• Highly developed interpersonal and communications skills.• Results oriented.• Diplomatic.• Strong public communication skills.• Open-minded to differing views.• Persuasive and quick thinking.• Conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
