Frontend Designer

DESCRIPTION

Action Network is hiring a frontend designer for our new organizing toolset. The person in this role will make crucial design choices within our existing design framework - ensuring an excellent user experience for movement activists and organizers. You will build the concept for a feature, be open to feedback from our partner organizations, and then take it from design through frontend development. The position reports to Action Builder's Product Manager and plays a highly influential role in decisions surrounding the tool's design and development.

We are a nonprofit organization committed to providing technological infrastructure for the progressive movement. Our existing digital toolset has enabled organizations to reach millions and build movements.


Background

We are looking for a CSS/HTML developer with design skills. You should have a portfolio, and be comfortable bringing your designs to life.


Responsibilities

  • Design the interface and interaction flow of responsive web and mobile experiences. Establish and document UI patterns to help maintain quality and consistency across application features.
  • Participate in key phases of the product development lifecycle, including product ideation and definition, user research, design, front-end development, post-launch evaluation, iterative improvements, and new features.
  • Support the team with UX documentation as needed (sketches, wireframes, prototypes, etc.).
  • Work closely with our Javascript developer to use existing components do initial markup of features, and then clean up to make them user ready.
  • Contribute to a strong design culture by collaborating with all members of the organization and advocating for users.

REQUIREMENTS

  • SCSS/SASS
  • HTML
  • Responsive design (mobile/desktop) using latest tech
  • Ability to create basic CSS animations

Bonus

  • Formal UX experience
  • Experience in an Agile environment
  • Javascript, Angular

BENEFITS

The salary range is 95-120k annually, with family healthcare, dental and a 401(k) grant. We offer unlimited vacation (with a two week annual minimum), sick leave, paid holidays and parental leave.
