The Business Initiative for Health Policy is seeking a full time Associate level Operations and Communications staffer. Applicants with campaign, nonprofit, and/or digital media experience are preferred.
The Business Initiative for Health Policy (BIHP) is an independent, non-partisan policy, public education and advocacy organization focused on advancing the business and economic rationale for adopting a Medicare for All system in the United States, the only developed nation without guaranteed universal healthcare.
BIHP believes that the current profit driven healthcare system poses an existential threat to American business, particularly small and mid-sized businesses, and that its continuation will ensure lower profits for business owners, less innovation and entrepreneurialism, depressed wages for millions of working Americans, and weakened international competitiveness.
BIHP further believes that adopting a Medicare for All, universal health care system is the only way to ensure a healthy citizenry which is both a basic building block of a stable and prosperous nation and an essential component of enduring competitive advantage in the global economy.
The salary range for this position is $35,000-45,000 annually, along with a generous benefits package.
Responsibilities:
- Executive Administrative Support:
- Assist senior staff with scheduling, and manage the master calendar.
- Support travel and logistics arrangements.
- Manage email, phone messages, and other incoming communication, responding in a professional and timely manner.
- Track receipts, expenses, etc.
- Communications
- Assist with managing and building the social media audience.
- Create basic graphics and other original content.
- Collect articles and materials to be distributed on social media and on the webpage.
- Update website with new content regularly.
- Conduct research and build the press list.
- Be responsible for daily news clips.
- Support the creation of other outreach materials as needed.
Qualifications:
- Exceptional writing skills.
- Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask, be flexible, and re-prioritize as needed.
- Ability to manage social media, especially Facebook and Twitter.
- Experience creating graphics or handling basic photo and video editing.
- Experience conducting research.
- MS Office suite aficionado.
Strong Plus:
- Comprehensive knowledge of Facebook and Google ads, experience running both.
- Experience in managing and updating a website.
- Basic understanding of economics and business tenants.
- Exceptionally well informed about the health care system in the United States.
