Job Description:

This organization is seeking a thoughtful, innovative, and out-going Volunteer Recruiter who has proactive and strategic volunteer recruitment experience. The ideal candidate will be a competent leader who can assess and meet our programs' needs through recruitment, placement, and retention of volunteers. This is a non-profit organization whose mission is to support strong children, strong families, and strong communities by increasing access to quality educational programs, healthy foods, and family supports 365 days-per-year.


Working under the Assistant Director of Volunteer Engagement, the Volunteer Recruiter will be responsible for the recruitment of at least 280 new volunteers a week. Their main duty will be the outreach and recruitment of volunteers for our pop-up food markets. This position requires a wide set of skills including, but not limited to, a high-level understanding of the organization, an ability to pay close attention to details, effective communications skills to individuals and groups, and multitasking. The Volunteer Recruiter must also have a "roll up your sleeves" attitude and be joyfully willing to step in to do whatever needs to be done at any given time.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • ·       Actively organize, coordinate, and manage the recruitment of volunteers, including developing and maintaining partnerships with social, civic, and local institutions and organizations
  • ·       Facilitate outreach efforts such as presentations to schools, corporate and/or community groups, and information booths at community events
  • ·       Manage existing partnerships with recurring volunteer groups
  • ·       Assist in the collection of data related to the effectiveness of recruitment strategies and desired outcome measures, ensuring that the recruitment strategies reflect the identified needs 
  • ·       Facilitate and evaluate recruitment strategies, training sessions, and networking opportunities to support the organization's needs and ensure the growth of volunteers
  • ·       Maintain clear and positive written and verbal communication with all internal and external sources
  • ·       Liaise and meet with the various program leaders within the organization to assess their volunteering needs
  • ·       Collect and maintain data for accurate assessment of volunteer program
  • ·       Respond to and keep track of volunteer email inquiries
