GQR is currently seeking a Senior Associate to join our Domestic team. The ideal candidate will act as lead analyst managing client projects. They are responsible for coordinating research and strategic recommendations for clients at all levels. They will work independently in all aspects of the survey research process, including drafting strategic baseline surveys and focus group guidelines, writing memos, analyzing results and presenting findings to clients. They will manage client relationships, including maintaining regular contact, providing on-going strategic advice, marketing ideas for new or expanded research to clients and developing a network of contacts for future business. Senior Associates come to every meeting prepared to be a leader, offering ideas and demonstrating to clients that you bring knowledge and value in addition to what the principal offers. They think outside the confines of project-specific work to identify trends across projects, leverage our research to explore interesting trends that would benefit GQR and/or our clients. Senior Associates also manage and mentor junior staff in coordinating internal research needs with operations and programming departments, conducting candidate and issue research, and proofing documents and graphic presentations.
HOURS
9:00 AM to 6:00 PM EST Monday through Friday. Some after hours and weekend work as needed. Occasional travel for focus groups, client meetings, and presentations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Generate ideas for and write marketing proposals for current and prospective clients
- Prepare for and conduct marketing pitches
- Obtain pricing for projects
- Administer letters of agreement with client
- Collect payment from client
- Design qualitative and quantitative research specifications (i.e., focus group and survey specifications)
- Write survey questionnaires and focus group guidelines
- Set and enforce project timelines, internally and with client
- Maintain relationship as primary point of contact for clients on research and strategic issues
- Provide strategic guidance to client and other consultants on other aspects of campaigns and public communications (i.e., education campaigns, direct mail, field plans, television advertising)
- Keep abreast of ongoing news events and developments with clients and topics pertinent to clients and political issues; ensure that principal is briefed and updated as necessary
- Ensure that survey data is representative through weighting process
- Conduct in-depth analysis of quantitative data (including crosstabs and regression analysis) and qualitative data (including focus groups and in-depth interviews)
- Provide briefings on findings and prepare presentation outlines for principal as needed
- Write initial draft of memos and reports
- Create outline for graphics presentations
- Lead oral presentation of research results
- Consult with principal on strategic and research decisions as necessary
- Take a leadership role in moving the company forward, including but not limited to serving on committees, writing methodological reports, providing training to staff, and writing and publishing "think pieces."
MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
- Clearly and articulately delegate tasks to analyst, assistant analyst, and project associates (as appropriate) on coordinating internal research needs with operations and programming departments, conducting background research, and proofing of documents and graphic presentations
- Oversee research process at all stages and ensure that tasks are being completed accurately and in a timely manner
- Monitor training, progress, and advancement of staff reporting directly to the Senior Associate
- Provide feedback to junior staff on job performance and conduct performance reviews at appropriate intervals
- Serve as a mentor for junior staff members
- Coordinate and oversee junior staff and intern workloads, identifying and offering solutions to balance and problem solve issues
- Provide opportunities for additional training and development

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in relevant field (including, but not limited to, political science, public policy, international relations, statistics, math, business).
- Training in statistics and survey methodology strongly recommended.
- 7+ years' experience in survey research and/or consulting preferred.
- Master's degree a plus.
